Aktaş Holding is also among the companies that place R&D on their agenda for its development. It has been making special productions for defense industry and rail systems under the basic business lines such as transportation, automotive, building and industrial group for many years. Aktaş Holding Chief Executive Officer and CEO İskender Ulusay, with whom we visited the factory in Bursa, says that they have made serious investments in technology and research for years.

"We are the first company to manufacture train bellows in Turkey"

Ulusay said, “As a result of our effective and sustainable works in the field of R&D, we were entitled to receive the R&D Center Certificate from our Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2017,” says Ulusay, he states that the most important step towards high and creative technology came about in this way.

Saying that they started to offer innovative and efficiency based products to their sectors with the contribution of R&D centers, Ulusay also said, "We have invested and commissioned two new test benches in our R&D center, which are capable of testing rail systems in 2019. In this sense, we aim to represent our country in the best way in the rail systems sector by developing and growing every day in the sector. In this context, we will continue to represent our country in international rail systems fairs and reach a wider audience."

Aktaş Holding signature on Istanbul and Bursa subways

Aktaş Holding became the first company to produce train bellows in Turkey. In 2008, it started production for the test of the products in the secondary suspension of ABB vehicles belonging to Istanbul Transportation. Aktaş Holding's products are used in Istanbul and Bursa subway-light train lines.

Continuing its investments, the company has received the international IRIS certificate in 2019 with the Air Suspension Systems it put into service and reveals the uninterrupted course regarding the high technology journey.

"The meaning of these documents is huge. The best producers of the machine in the world are in Europe, especially Germany. These documents are proof of saying ‘We are producing quality products just like you.’”

Aktaş Holding's activities are not limited to this. The company has also developed the technology to minimize the vibrations and noise generated while the wagons are on the rails. Especially during the epidemic, these news give us morale.

Emphasizing that they continue their investments to increase domestic production, İskender Ulusay says: “Meanwhile, we have started to produce not only secondary suspension but also metal-rubber suspension products in primary suspension and supply them to vehicle manufacturers. Thus, we became the first company in Turkey to provide products for both primary and secondary suspension. Finally, we started to produce products used as vibration and sound dampers on rails laid in the infrastructure in the rail systems. In this way, we have contributed to our goal of closing the current account deficit by producing a product that our country has imported for years.
