Under the Leadership of Women Leadership Development Committee, within the Scope of Kadın Enlightenment Meetings, on 28.02.2018 Wednesday between 12:00-13:00, Fashion Designer Ms. Evrim TIMUR who is the Founder of www.purplation.com was our Guest to Talk About “Women in Design Services Sector”.
Ms. TIMUR who briefly talked about herself, talked about the topics of being a woman in Turkey, being a female designer, who is a designer, how designers act (creative personality), and she said that gender roles are not inherent, that they are imposed by the social community, that the role performance show differences according to the personality of an individual and the relationship they have with the society.
She said that the Turkish society imposes the roles of mother, housewife, business woman, employer to women, and she explained according to Global gender Equality Report, under the being a women in Turkey heading that 7 out of 10 women don’t work, the labor force participation rate of women is 52,8%, and while within the total employment, 18% of women were mid and high level managers in 2007 this number decreased to 14% in 2015.
Ms. Evrim TİMUR who said that women gradually participating more and more to the design sector, explained that women are able to express themselves better in this sector, that they are creative and are able to get out of their own head, that they surround themselves with aesthetics. Ms. TIMUR who highlighted the fact that women, who have higher sense of perception and sense of aesthetics, are able to climb to the top of design world with education suggested that creative personality is actually the social role of women.
Our seminar has ended, after the collective photo shoot, with the commemorative plaque that the Women Leadership Committee presented to our speaker.
