The Import Regime Decision, Import Communiqués, and Product Safety and Inspection Communiqués published in the Official Gazette at the end of each year announce the "tax rates according to the country of origin" of the goods to be imported and "which permits must be obtained and which conditions must be met" before import. These decisions and notifications, which change yearly, must be followed closely.

For the product to be imported to be of high quality and to be purchased at an affordable price, first of all, "overseas sellers should be researched, suppliers should be contacted, the reliability of the suppliers should be made sure," and "payment options and freight prices" should be carefully evaluated.

In addition, research and analysis on issues such as the product's sales potential in our country's market share, how much it will sell for, and its profitability rate should also be carried out accurately. Only in this way can a quality product be imported and put on the market at a profit.

Importing a product has become very difficult lately, considering the conditions of our country. Apart from trade policy measures, the legislation contains provisions regulating other financial obligations "such as additional customs duty or additional financial liability." It is essential that the process regarding these can be carried out in a healthy and trouble-free manner.

CUSTOMS TARIFF STATISTICS POSITION AND COUNTRY OF ORIGIN…

First, the goods' origin must be known, and the Customs Tariff Statistics Position must be determined correctly. Customs duties and trade policy measures are determined "according to the Customs Tariff Statistics Position of the goods and the country of origin." The cycle is built on these two criteria.

With the Import Regime Decision, Import Communiqués, Product Safety, and Inspection Communiqués published in the Official Gazette at the end of each year, the "tax rates according to the country of origin" of the goods to be imported and "which permits must be obtained and which conditions must be met" before the import is announced. These decisions and notifications, which change from year to year, must be followed closely. For example, there are 22 Import Communiqués and 26 Product Safety Communiqués for 2024.

PERMITS AND CONDITIONS REQUIRED BEFORE IMPORT…

On the other hand, if permits are to be obtained and conditions to be met before the import of the goods, "Necessary work must be done to obtain these permits and meet the conditions," and "the documents must be accurate and up-to-date."

Accurate determination of the Customs Tariff Statistics Position—which requires expertise in itself—and subsequently "fulfilling the requirements of the financial obligations and trade policy measures required by the goods accurately and quickly" are only possible with an experienced and expert customs consultancy firm.

FOLLOWING THE UPDATES IN THE LEGISLATION…

The foreign trade agenda, which has a dynamic structure, requires those practicing customs consultancy to "closely follow the updates in the legislation and be knowledgeable." Legislation that existed yesterday does not exist today; legislation that exists today may disappear tomorrow.

In summary, achieving the desired goal is the essential good. It cooperates with a customs consultancy company with "expert and experienced" staff and "gives the right direction to the processes."
