Amazon will officially open its first logistics center in Türkiye today. While it is anticipated that the center to be opened in Tuzla will create many jobs, it will contribute to SMEs in Türkiye expanding their businesses and meeting increasing customer demands, thanks to the employment opportunities it has been offering since September 2022. In addition to many politicians and senior executives, Amazon Vice President of Europe and North America Operations Stefano Perego, Amazon Türkiye Operations General Manager Hakan Karadoğan, and Amazon Türkiye Country Manager Richard Marriott are expected to attend the opening.

In this sense, a large number of recruitments have begun to be made in the new logistics center to be opened, from fields such as engineering, human resources, accounting, occupational health and safety, and information processing (IT) to warehouse operators who will be responsible for customers' orders for storing products. In addition, the company offers its employees a modern, safe, and inclusive working environment, thanks to employee discounts available on Amazon.com.tr, additional health, life, and accident insurance, extended parental leave, comprehensive benefits, and competitive salaries.

Regarding this significant project, which was implemented with an investment of more than 100 million dollars, Amazon Türkiye Country Manager Richard Marriott said, 'Our new logistics base, equipped with the latest technologies, will make significant contributions to supporting SMEs that sell on Amazon.com.tr, the number of which has increased by 50 percent in the last year, further to grow their businesses with our Amazon Logistics services. "These investments we have made in our logistics base and sales partners are also an indication of our commitment to Türkiye," he said, adding that they are excited to open their first logistics base in Türkiye.

Amazon, which prioritizes sustainability in its logistics center in Türkiye, continues to carry out its project to meet the heating and hot water needs of buildings with 100 percent electrical energy as part of its zero-carbon emission commitment by 2040. Thus, it is aimed to prevent the use of fossil fuels, such as natural gas, which cause significant harm to the environment. Therefore, building management systems will easily control all heating, ventilation, and cooling systems in buildings, and energy waste will be prevented, thus creating a healthy working environment for employees.

Amazon has also achieved its goal of using 100 percent renewable energy in all its operations by 2025, with 85 percent of its renewable energy production capacity by 2021, becoming the most significant corporate renewable energy buyer in Europe and the world.
