Renovation works started two years ago at the border gate in Karaağaç Neighborhood of Edirne centre, and finished in May of this year. At the opening of Pazarkule Border Gate, where the works were completed, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat made a speech. Minister Bolat; He stated that "they determined new trade policies, followed global developments, worked to regulate domestic trade and increase exports within the framework of Türkiye's 2023 targets and "Türkiye Century" vision".

At the border gate, which gained a more modern form after the restructuring, the number of platforms, which were in the form of one entrance and one exit, was increased to 6 as 3 entrances and 3 exits. The usage area of the customs area, which was 4 thousand square meters, was expanded to 22 thousand square meters. Last year, it was explained that 59 percent of Türkiye's total exports were by sea, 31 percent by land and 8 percent by air. Therefore, the high share of exports made on land necessitated renewal in this area. The Pazarkule Customs Gate, which has gained a modern appearance after the renovation works, includes a search hangar, social facilities and personnel buildings, administrative units in the passenger building, and stores on the ground floor.

Customs services need to be carried out faster and more securely in order to manage high volume traffic at customs gates quickly and safely and to prevent congestion at border gates. Therefore, taking into account the changing commercial conditions, investments for the renewal of customs gates should be continued with the Build-Operate-Transfer Model (BOT), as well as budgetary opportunities.

Customs gates opening to the European Union are very important in developing our country's export, import and transit transportation capacity. Customs gates, which have a very important role in the realization of passenger transactions, especially our citizens living in Europe, are the windows of countries to the world. Therefore, the first idea about you in the eyes of all people entering and leaving is the border gates. For this reason, it is very valuable for the image of our country that our customs gates have a modern infrastructure in order to create a good image for our country and that the personnel serving there are qualified and in quantity to handle this transaction volume.
