Turkey can obtain more revenue from its harbors

Trade wars upset international trade. Selling high quality and high value added products and services is not enough alone. You need to deliver it to world markets quickly, safely and at lower cost. Countries that decrease their logistics costs, trade faster than their ports, stop document pollution in their foreign trade and use their customs more efficiently are growing in foreign trade.
The way out of companies trying to survive with low profits; goes through well-managed expenses. In addition to producing high kilograms, companies take savings measures. While increasing income, reducing expenses can be thought of as increasing company income.

Turkey's 2020 export target is $ 190 billion. At this point, our revenues can be increased by operating the ports more efficiently. In 2018, when we look at the tonnage of handling, loading and unloading of goods under Turkish customs supervision in Turkish ports, we see that we have reached a total of 460 million tons. 110 million tons of this happens during export and 218 million tons during import transactions. The carrying capacity of Turkey in its domestic trade between its ports is 60 million tons.

The main thing I want to draw your attention to is the remaining transactions of 71 million tons of transit trade. This is only 16 percent of total handling tonnages. Turkey can increase this ratio. Because of our foreign trade, 62.4 percent of our exports and 60 percent of our imports are made by sea.

Good planning of our logistics infrastructure, speeding up the integration of railway connection lines to ports, and termination of unnecessary documents that are required despite being banned, such as ordino, will increase our speed in foreign trade.
Entries and exits of trucks in ports in port cities around the world are independent of city traffic. Cities grow around ports. As we, li-mana transportation is done together with city traffic, there is a big traffic problem. This problem can also be overcome with railway connection lines, Dryports to be established in the backyard of the ports and separate transportation axes.

The port of Rotterdam city of the Netherlands is such a port city. The foreign currency inflow that Dutch foreign trade provides only from transit trade reaches $ 160 billion. I am sure that if Turkish ports are operated correctly, it will not be difficult to reach our export target. Logistics centers to be established is the biggest step to be taken for all these.
