Trade wars continue at full speed. These wars are also spilling over into the area of transport corridors. The USA is trying to respond to China's "Belt and Road Project" with the "Build Back Better World -B3W," and the EU is trying to answer with the "Global Gateway Project." For this purpose, the Western world is trying to develop the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) initiative.

 

The 18th G-20 Summit, held on 9-10 September 2023 in Delhi, the capital of India, with the theme "One World, One Family, One Future," focused on climate change, sustainable and inclusive development, gender equality, technological transformation, and the digital public domain. Agenda topics such as infrastructure, international organizations of the 21st century, and accelerated processes to achieve sustainable development goals were discussed.

 

The development that concerns our region was the agreement reached by the group formed by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France, Italy, Germany, the USA, and the European Union regarding the "Spice Road".

 

The map below shows that the Spice Road will run from India to the United Arab Emirates by sea, from there to Jordan and Israel's Haifa port by train via Saudi Arabia, and from Israel by sea to the Greek port of Piraeus and Europe. It aims to reach other ports by sea.
