The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) published December 2024 international trade data for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone. According to the data, the EU's exports increased by 3.7 percent in December compared to the same month of the previous year to 209 billion euros, while imports increased by 3.9 percent to 192.7 billion euros. Consequently, the EU gave a foreign trade surplus of 16.3 billion euros in the said month. In December last year, the Eurozone's exports were 226.5 billion euros, up 3.1 percent compared to the same month of 2023, while imports increased by 3.8 percent to 211 billion euros. Thus, the Eurozone's trade surplus was recorded as 15.5 billion in December. The trade surplus in the Eurozone was determined as 176.9 billion euros in 2024 and 150.1 billion euros in the EU. The countries that imported the most from EU countries in December were the USA with 41.6 billion euros, the UK with 23.4 billion euros, China with 16.6 billion euros, Switzerland with 14.7 billion euros and Türkiye with 8.9 billion euros. The countries that exported the most to EU countries were China with 40.2 billion euros, USA with 26.1 billion euros, UK with 12.7 billion euros, Switzerland with 10.3 billion euros, Norway with 8.6 billion euros and Türkiye with 8 billion euros.
