China Responds To Trump Adminstration's Additional Tariffs

US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing additional customs duties on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. The US administration announced that it would impose a 25 percent additional customs duty on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent additional customs duty on imports from China. In the following days, US President Donald Trump decided to postpone the new customs duties on these two countries for a month after his phone calls with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. Trump, who postponed the additional tax on his neighbors, did not give up on the decision to impose additional tariffs on China. In response to this decision, the Chinese Ministry of Finance annunciated that customs duties ranging from 10-15 percent were imposed on various US products. These include natural gas, coal, agricultural equipment, and auto parts. After the US government decided to impose an additional 10 percent tariff in addition to the tariffs imposed on China, the US bond market warned President Donald Trump that imposing tariffs on its largest trading partners risks fuelling inflation and decelerating the country's economic growth.
