In the letter dated 15 May 2025 and numbered 00109297346 from the Directorate General of Imports of the Ministry of Trade, it is stated that, as is known, the United Kingdom (UK) has been implementing a safeguard measure on certain steel products and that a review investigation regarding the said measure is currently being conducted. The following points regarding the matter are conveyed:
"A report on the planned final decision was published by the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) on 13 May 2025. According to this report:
- The practice of carrying over unused quotas from one quarter to the next has been terminated.
- Countries with country-specific quotas will no longer be allowed to benefit from the 'residual' (other countries) quota in the final quarters.
- For categories 4, 7, and 13, countries subject to the 'residual' quota will be allowed to use a maximum of 40% of that quota.
- The list of countries granted category-based exemptions has been updated.
Furthermore, the report states that interested parties may submit their comments regarding the report until 26 May 2025.
