    The 55th annual meetings of the World Economic Forum (WEF) kicked off on January 20 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, with the theme “Cooperation for a Smart Age”, addressed global challenges. The summit, which will last until January 24, will cover topics such as new US policies, renovating growth, geoeconomic uncertainty, combating climate change, artificial intelligence and digitalization, and assessments on interest rates and inflation.

 

          Participants of the Summit:

    The summit, to which 47th President Donald Trump, who took over the presidency in the United States, will also connect live on January 23, is planned to bring together 3000 participants from more than 130 countries, including business people, politicians, academics and representatives of non-governmental organizations. With 220 sessions planned, the meeting will also be open to the public. Among the high-level leaders expected to attend the meeting are President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, First Deputy Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, President of Argentina Javier Milei, Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President of South Africa Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa and Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez. Also present at the meeting are President of the Swiss Confederation 2025, Member of the Federal Council, Head of the Federal Department of Finance Karin Keller-Sutter, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev, Senior Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh, Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander de Croo, Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouili and Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid is expected to be present. Israeli President Isaac Herzog is expected to attend, as well as many politicians such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

 

    WEF President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Borge Brende stated that this year's meeting coincided with a period of global uncertainty and said, “In this unsettled environment, innovative and collaborative approaches are the only way to address urgent challenges and unlock new opportunities.” “Davos is unique in that it brings together nearly 3,000 decision-makers from governments, business and civil society at the start of the year to address the challenges of a world in deep transformation,” said Klaus Schwat, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum. “Despite the uncertainties, this year's meeting will foster a spirit of cooperation and constructive optimism to shape the coming Age of Reason in a more sustainable and inclusive way,” Schwat said.
